The Journey Day 12: Betrayal as a Stepping Stone
Be grateful for the people who have played a Judas-type role in your life. Judas was the one who betrayed Jesus. With Judas, you can learn continue to be yourself regardless of what their motive is in your life.
I learned self-control when I know they have betrayed me when they are standing in my face smiling at me like everything is okay.
I learned to control my anger and to allow my work and actions speak for me instead of defending myself.
In your Judas experience you can inherit strong discernment to know who to pull closer and who to “love from a distance.”
Jesus loved Judas, but understood his role, which is why when Judas approaches to kiss him. He tells him to do what he has to do quickly. While it is not easy, I have learned to “stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” This allows God to do what He does (vengeance and protection). Qualifying me ensures I die to myself, still love, and not curse the ones who hurt me as His word requires. It is not easy to love your enemies. It is a mature response that only comes by the fire. We can love our enemy sometimes, but God needs us to be consistent. Often we hear God keeps repeating a test because we need to pass it. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, we experience repeated situations and the lesson is different. So, I am hopeful I can love like He does, but I will not lie and tell you it is easy. We…
