The Journey Day 11: Be All You Were Created To Be

Learning to celebrate being a woman and all that being a woman entails was an important part of the journey of life for me.

Being around a lot of men in my life, I pushed the emotional side of me back to bury my past and to get along.

I have often heard females make statements such as, “females are too emotional,” or, “I would rather hang out with men because women are messy,” or, “I am just a cute boy.” This is called denial and is the result of someone needing to take a good look in the mirror. After working in a male-dominated field for over twenty years, women get the categorization, but I have learned these traits are not limited to women.

For me, I had to learn how to release the pain of my past instead of burying it by rejecting womanhood in my life, especially when I learned I was pregnant with a girl. I want her to embrace all of true womanhood – good, bad, and indifferent. God created male and female. Equal, but different. Both are needed badly today in their original forms.

Reflective Question: Do you celebrate and accept who you are? Does the story resonate with you in some way?

Reflective Scripture: Genesis 1:26
