November 2022 Book Reviews
The books read in November had an unintentional theme of rest and living life abundantly. All of the books that I read this month were excellent.
Book 1: Rest Is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey.
My own intentional journey with rest begins with a hospital visit in 2011. I have been following the Nap Ministry page for awhile. Her regular prompts and and ideas reminds us that our worth does not reside in how much we produce. She consistently reminds me to continue the resistance of rest and I am continually motivated to create safe spaces of rest in my life and my sphere of influence as well. In the book, she reiterates rest as an form of resistance and the reclaiming of power. We are enough. The systems cannot have us. Rest Is Resistance is rooted in spiritual energy and centered in Black liberation, womanism, somatics, and Afrofuturism. Her storytelling and practical advice, are delivered in Tricia Hersey’s beautiful and melodic voice. Read on Audible, but the book will be purchased as a part of my physical book collection. Highly recommended.
